Review: Grand Hyatt Tokyo (View King Room)

I stayed at Grand Hyatt Tokyo in November 2021. I booked "Hyatt Prive" plan from Classic Travel.

What is Grand Hyatt Tokyo?

It is a Hyatt-affiliated hotel located right next to Roppongi Hills.

How to get to Grand Hyatt Tokyo

The nearest station is Roppongi Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line or Toei Oedo Line.

If you can choose between the two, the Hibiya Line station is closer (the Oedo Line platform is deep underground, so it takes longer to get above ground).

If you are coming to Roppongi Hills for shopping, etc., it is right next door (on the same site). If you are coming to Roppongi Hills for shopping, etc., it is right next door (on the same site?). Please follow the signage.

The room

I booked a View King room on the Hyatt Prive plan through Classic Travel and was assigned a View King room on a relatively high floor. However, the deluxe room was occupied because it was the weekend.

The rooms at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo have a slightly unusual shape, with the window side sticking out at an angle instead of a rectangle. This gives the room two windows, albeit slightly, and a good view of the city.

Unfortunately, it was cloudy that day, but if the weather is good, you can see Mt. Fuji on a clear day, but you cannot see the Tokyo Tower! (In terms of direction, the non-view room is on the Tokyo Tower side, but it is supposed to be blocked by Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.)

View from the View King Room. In addition to regular chairs, there is a sofa with an ottoman for your comfort if you are tired of walking.
Desk and chair. The inverted L-shaped object next to the TV is a stand light.
King bed. The bedside switch can be used to control the electric curtains.
The terminals on the desk. In addition to two power outlets for Japan and other countries, there is also a USB Type-A terminal for charging.

Swimming pool

Guests can use the gym and swimming pool for free. We only used the pool this time due to time constraints.

The description on the official website is a bit confusing, but it looks like guests can use the gym and pool only for free, but locker rooms (including sauna, bath area, etc.) are available for a fee.1 However, if you are a member of Hyatt (regardless of rank), you can use the locker rooms for free, so you should register as a Hyatt member before your stay. However, Hyatt members (regardless of rank) can use the locker rooms for free, so it would be advisable to register as a Hyatt member before staying at the hotel.

I was not allowed to take pictures of the pool, so please see the link above for pictures of the atmosphere. Interestingly, there is a Jacuzzi right next to the pool, and the Jacuzzi is glowing. There are also chairs where you can lie down by the pool.

Swimsuits can be rented for a fee. Swim caps can be rented for free, I believe. Goggles are not available for rent, so buy the ones on sale or bring your own.

Room Service Meals

If you book with the Hyatt Prive plan, you can order room service for complementary breakfast for free (up to 2 adults). You can choose one from the full range of breakfast items on the set menu, including American breakfast and Japanese breakfast as well as continental breakfast.

Example of American Breakfast

I also ordered a Clubhouse Sandwich for my evening meal, and the Hyatt Prive plan included an in-hotel credit worth 100 USD, which could be used for room service.

Hyatt Prive Benefits

Hyatt Prive is a special offer that can only be booked through select travel sites and travel agencies.

In this case, I booked the Hyatt Prive plan through classictravel.com. In this case, the following benefits are included

  • Complimentary breakfast
  • 100 USD in-hotel credit (for either restaurant or spa facility expenses)
  • Room upgrade (subject to availability)
  • Early check-in (subject to availability)

In addition, if you provided your World of Hyatt membership number at check-in, your stay and points were credited to your account.

On classictravel.com, Grand Hyatt Tokyo does not appear when searching for hotels with the Hyatt Prive plan from the menu. However, when I searched for Grand Hyatt Tokyo without specifying a plan and brought up a list of accommodation plans, Hyatt Prive came up.

The Hyatt Prive plan for Grand Hyatt Tokyo does not include late check-out, but the virtuoso plan includes late check-out, so if you want to extend your stay, the virtuoso plan may be better (for both plans). (Both plans can be booked through classictravel.com).
